Raven Rock Ramble 2016

A celebration of cycling, a celebration of life

The Raven Rock Ramble is a century (100-mile) bicycle ride that explores the four-county area (Wake, Harnett, Lee, and Chatham) around Raven Rock State Park. Proceeds from the event  benefit the UNC Kidney Center for direct patient services.  Since its start in 2002, the Raven Rock Ramble has raised over $198,000 toward kidney health and awareness.

The Raven Rock Ramble endorses cyclist safety and responsibility as promoted by The Peleton Project.

Raven Rock Ramble 2016

It was a good, but wet, ride. Sunday, May 1st started out cloudy but dry, ended sunny and warm, but was very wet in the middle. Nonetheless, 500 riders (out of 715 registered) showed up to enjoy the ride, the camaraderie, the support, and oh yes, the food! The only incidents of which I'm aware were a couple riders who went down crossing wet railroad tracks in Moncure, and they were able to continue with only minor scrapes.

It's too early for a final tally, but I hope to clear $28-30,000 this year, 100% of which will benefit kidney patients at UNC with emergency needs (see The Money page for more details).

Registration for 2017 will open on December 1st and most likely fill in December. The event date is Sunday, May 7th.
